Here is currently no way to remove DRM on books downloaded using 1.5.0/1.7.0/1.8. However, there is a simple workaround that involves downgrading to 1.4.1. Uninstall the new version of Kindle for PC, download the old version, and install it. Note that you will probably have to manually delete and re-download all your books after downgrading.
How to Remove DRM from Amazon Kindle azw/prc/mobi/tpz
1. Authorize your copy of Kindle for PC and "Sync and check for new items".
Install Kindle for PC and authorize your copy. Please check your Kindle4PC version. Open Kindle for PC, click "Help"--"About", to find your Kindle4PC's version.
2: Load Kindle eBooks.
View the book in Kindle for PC. (In other words, make sure it is downloaded to your computer, not in “Archived Items”)
3. Run Kindle Drm Removal to remove drm from kindle & Mobipokect Reader(azw, prc, mobi, topaz).
Browse for input directory, default as "..\My Documents\My Kindle Content\". Then click unDRM Directory to decrypt all the books.
Input files
Click on the "browse" button to choose your Kindle ebook / input folder. You'll find it in "My Documents\My Kindle Content".
If you can't find the kindle ebook, open Kindle for PC, then find Tools-->Options-->Content, you will see the kindle ebooks folder.
