Friendly Tip
If you are unable to log in to AudibleSync after several attempts, give up. Consider trying an alternative software -- Epubor Audible Converter -- for downloading Audible content to your computer as MP3.
In the upcoming weeks, we will be moving all downloads to an enhanced, high-quality audio format and will no longer support format 4 downloading.
We’re excited about providing you with this higher-quality listening experience. Your Audible titles are yours to keep and will be available for download in the new, higher-quality audio format. If you prefer to listen to your Audible titles in format 4 audio, you will want to download them all to your device before we make the switch on 6/30/2020.
You can continue downloading and using the Audible Manager software on your computer if you would like to, but you will need to make sure you are downloading in Enhanced format. If you switch to a different computer in the future, you will need to download a new software called AudibleSync, which we are working on now. --A letter from Audible.com

Part 3. AudibleSync vs Audible Windows App
Note: The Audible app for Windows has been discontinued on January 13th, 2022. People who currently have the app installed can continue to use it until July 31st, 2022. What can we do if Audible Windows App doesn't work anymore?
There is another Audible app--Audible Windows 10 App which also allows you to download the Audible books on Windows 10 and 8. Let's see what's the difference between these two Audible apps.
AudibleSync | Audible windows app | |
---|---|---|
Operation system | Works on Windows 11, 10 and 8 | Works on Windows 10 and 8 |
Download Audible books | Yes | Yes |
Listen to Audible Books | Not supported | Yes |
Audible Channels | Not supported | Yes |
Purchase Audible Books | Not supported | Yes |
It is obvious that Audible Windows App has more functions than AudibleSync, like purchasing and listening Audible books. If you only want to download Audible books on Windows, has no favor of other functions, AudibleSync is your best choice. If you need to purchase and listen to Audible books in App, just choose Audible Windows 10 App.
Part 4. Download Audible to Windows computer
Now Audible allows you to download audible books from its website directly. Without installing any Audible apps on your computer, just click on "Download" button on the audible.com and then audible files will be saved to your computer easily.
What if there is only "Listen" button, no "Download" button for your Audible books? Can you still download them? Keep reading.

So you can just choose to download audible books via Audible WIndows 10 app.
Six or seven months ago, after years of successful downloading, I became unable to download and load books into iTunes with various failure symptoms, including the "missing" libraries and repeated returns to the signon screen mentioned in other posts. I spent several days working with the current Audible Manager, a previous version of Audible Manager and AudibleSync. I could not manage to download and then load into iTunes. Finally spent 3 or 4 hours on the phone with Audible to no avail. Several days later I stumbled on an Audible tech note that solved the problem for me. The crux of it was to go to Audible.com settings and uncheck this checkbox.
*********************uncheck the following box**********************************************
"Software Verification
Check for Audible Download Manager
(here is where the checkbox is)
We'll check to make sure that Audible Download Manager is installed on your Windows desktop before downloading begins".
Once the box was unchecked, trying to download from Audible.com first downloaded "admhelper.adh". Running admhelper.adh started audible download manager. (app icon green with a downward pointing arrow.) Once the Audible download manager was started by admhelper.adh, I could download books using either audible.com or audible manager. (I don't recall if Audiblesync worked properly or not. I also don't recall if I had tested starting Audible download manager manually after the check box was unchecked.)
Notes: (unknown if the following is related or accurate as far as Audible's position.) I was using an Audible username rather than my Amazon ID which has always worked. My recollection is that the symptoms changed a bit depending on which signon was used but not sure.. Eventually Audible said their direction was to merge Audible accounts into existing Amazon accounts and migrate to Audiblesync, which would correct the "missing" library problem, (where in reality newly acquired books were visible, but no existing books), and the repeated display of the signon window when a download was attempted. I refused to do this because it comes with restrictions and cannot be reversed. Audible apologized and said that it looked like I would not be able to download existing (300+) audiobooks and get them into iTunes.
The behavior of the Audible software was inconsistent and confusing. Sent to technical support: "It seems a little counter productive to problem determination to have the app reaction to a failed download attempt be the repeated display of a signin/login screen." This was a little long. Hope it helps someone.
I am very upset that the Audible manager does not work any more. It was so stable! Also I don't yet have a Windows 10 computer. I figure that the books I've downloaded are lost. Should I quit Audible after 13 years and well over 1200 books in my library? I like to reread books after several years and can't access them.
I tried the sync and using a screen reader it was a disaster. The tech was super and deserves a bonus. But why trash what worked. I do not listen to books on a wireless device and use a screen reader. Audible is making it harder and harder for visually impaired folks to use this site. I've turned many onto Audible and have even given credits as wedding and birthday gifts. Somebody help!!!
Audiblesync is unable to update unable to log in using a PC most of the time as sight impaired and a phone is way too small. wish that they would reinstate the old app that worked and was stable
here is the beginning of the error in updating
So I bought a Windows PC just so I could use iTunes and iPod nanos and now Audible says I have to use AudibleSync but no one at Audible seems to be able to answer simple questions about using the app.
This is an absolutely fake newsletter!!!
1. Audible App: I still have installed Audible Win10 App, but it doesn't work anymore for downloading
2. AudibleSync: I didn't know this App, so I installed it, but I have the same problems of 99.9% of the users: I cannot login!!!
3. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DOWNLOAD from the Audible website: the "Download" button you specify in this newsletter doesn't exist at all!!!
If you have some REAL and EFFECTIVE tips or tricks to download .aax Audible files, please specify, otherwise I think it is better to avoid any confusion: your Epubor translator is useless at the moment, referring to Audible audiobooks!!!
Please refute, if you are able to...
1. Windows app: if you have this app installed on windows 10, then you should able to download the audible books you purchased. Please note that the rented( subscription) books are not able to be downloaded via windows 10 app. Audible only allows you to download that kind of audible files via audible android or iOS app.
2, AudibleSync--yes, many users reported they cannot log it it. We also mention this in the article. But this is decided by audible, not by us, right?
3, Download from website--yes, just like the first point you mentioned. If your books are rented, not purchased by credit. Then there should be no download button.
Thank you for asking again.
JUST BE FORE WARNED.
